Comedones (blackheads & white heads) is a sebaceous follicle, tiny hairs and sometimes bacteria, when it is open it is commonly called blackhead because the surface of the plug in the follicle has a blackish appearance. A close comedo is commonly called white head; its appearance is that of a skin-colored or slightly inflamed bump in the skin. Neither blackheads / whiteheads should be squeezed or picked open, unless extracted by Dermatologist or by Laser. Tissues injured by squeezing or picking can become infected by Staphylococci, Streptococci and other skin bacteria.
Papule is defined as a small solid lesion slightly elevated above the surface of the skin. A group of small papules and microcomedones may be invisible, but have a “ sandpaper “ feel to touch.
Pustule a dome shaped, fragle lesion containing pus that typically consists of a mixture of white blood cells, dead skin cells and bacteria.
Nodule is a solid, dome shaped or irregularly shaped lesion. A nodule is characterized by inflammation, extends into deeper la
Cyst is a sac –like lesion containing liquid or semi liquid material consisting of white blood cells, dead cells and bacteria, which is larger than a pustule may be severely inflamed, extends into deeper la
Acne is a disorder from the action of hormones and other substances on the skins oil glands (sebaceous glands) and hair follicles. These factors lead to plug and outbreaks of lesions commonly called pimples or zits. It is commonly seen on face, neck, upper back and chest. The surface of your skin has lots of small sebaceous glands just below the surface. These glands make sebum (a natural oil) that keeps the skin smooth and supple. Tiny pores (holes in the skin) allow the sebum to come to the surface of your skin. Hair also grows through these pores. The sebaceous glands of people with acne are especially sensitive to normal blood levels of a hormone called testosterone, found naturally in both men and women. If you are prone to acne, testosterone triggers the sebaceous glands to produce excess sebum. At the same time, the dead skin cells lining the openings of the hair follicles (the tube that holds the hair) aren’t shed properly and clog up the follicles.
The combination of these two effects causes a build-up of oil in your hair follicles, which causes blackheads and whiteheads to form. These bacteria usually live harmlessly on your skin, according to the when skin conditions are suitable for them to grow. They feed off the sebum and produce substances that cause an immune to grow. They feed of the sebum and produce substances that cause the redness associated with spots. In some cases more severe inflammatory acne, cysts develop beneath the skin’s surface, if these cysts rupture the infection can spread, which can result in scars.
Acne Scarring:
Scars form at the site of an injury to tissue; two types of scar exist:
Depressed areas such as ice- pick scars and raised thickened tissue such as keloids ,when tissue suffers an injury, the body rushes its repair kit to the injury site. Among the elements of the repair kit are white blood cells the task of repairing tissue and fighting infection ,white blood cells are inflammatory molecules may remain at the side of an acne lesion for days or even weeks , the people who are susceptible to an acne scarring between one person to another. Severe inflammatory that occurs deep in the skin , but scaring also may arise from more superficial acne that occurs deep in the skin.

Scars are caused by increased tissue formation called keloids or hypectrophic scars / keloid scars are associated with excessive amounts of the cell substance collagen. Over production of collagen is a response of skin cells to injury . The excess collagen becomes piled up in fibrous masses , resulting in a characteristic firm, smooth, irregularly shaped scar.
Laser Treatment :
Laser emits wavelengths of light targeted for the tiny invisible vessels just under the skin. Heat from the laser’s energy builds on the vessel causing them to disintegrate .By laser treatment it decrease sebum (oily substance) production by shrinking sebaceous glands. It can significant reduction in lesions was observed in three months, according to the severity of the infections, which destroys acne – causing bacteria. It shrinks sebaceous glands, which decreases the oil production. It stimulates collagen repairing and growing, combining with acne medications, the acne heals quicker, skin feels smoother, even color and less redness. Instead of drying out the skin or killing germs or drying up the oil production on a short-term basis, the laser actually alters these glands. The result is decrease in oil production, which helps in killing the bacteria. A reduction in lesion count may be seen after treatment and may continue to be seen in subsequent lesion. It will help to stimulate the underlying collagen to grow more and fill I the scar. The treatment is non-ablative is virtually no risk or downtime.
