Skin Grafting.
|
Skin Grafting is a surgical
procedure by which skin substitute is placed
over a burn or Non healing
wound to permanently replace damaged or missing
skin to provide a temporary wound covering.
Skin grafts serve a critical function in the
healing process for a variety of different injuries
to the skin to help the present infection and
further progression of the wound.

These are the potential
sources of a Skin Graft. Grafting skin can be
obtained from another area of the patients body,
The Skin which can be obtained from a donor
(i.e. another person or...) which is known as
Auto graft. The type of severity of the skin
damage incurred by a patient can require a distinct
Skin Graft depending on the injury and the damage
to the patients skin either a split- thickness
Skin Graft (only involves the epidermis and
this portion of the dermis ) may be used. |
